Sales Won't Save Your Business with 'Super Joe' Pardo

'Super Joe' Pardo a business consultant based in Philadelphia. He is the author of four books, and he helps business owners build their business for their lifestyles, not the other way around, and today we talk about his latest book SALES WON'T SAVE YOUR BUSINESS and how this concept can be applied to your business and lifestyle. If you've been in business for some time you and you want to improve your lifestyle, you need to start picking your business and processes apart and start solving the problems eating into your lifestyle. If you're about to start a business start with your lifestyle first and then build your business around it. 

Know Your Numbers

Every business owner needs to know their numbers because if their numbers are not right it could be costing them money every time they make a sale, which is crazy, but this is how some businesses are run. 

It's also important to make sure every person that deals with your business have a great experience, otherwise they will not come back and they will tell others why. 

KPI's

Every business has key performance indicators that they need to be tracked, but they also need to look at every process/system and see if they can be simplified. Can the number of steps in the process be reduced, which will save time? Small changes can have huge impacts. 

How quick you can get people through your business, without sacrificing quality, is really important. If a 30-second process can be reduced by 5-seconds, and it is performed hundreds of times per day, the time you save really starts to add up. 

Make More $ Or Have More Time

When your business starts making profits you have a decision to make. You can work more and make more money, or you can employ other people to perform certain tasks and have more time (more lifestyle). Remember, you're not getting any younger and you cannot get time back. 

You should look at all the tasks everyone in your team is performing and work out if what they're doing is the best use of their time (and skills), or does someone else need to be employed to take on some of their roles. Have every team member complete a 'WHAT I ACTUALLY DO EACH DAY' list. This is not to catch them out, it's to help identify where assistance is needed. 

Take a step back and look at every process in your business, performed by each team member, and put your ego aside. 

When the chips are down you've got to be willing to step up and swing the bat. Always ask yourself, how can I get my business to grow?

Monday Morning Tip

When you arrive at work at 8.30am, walk in, look around, see the sights, smell the smells, go and sit at your desk, take a deep breath, and smile. Even with all the frustrations you still have today, tomorrow and the day after that to realise why you're building your business. You can't get time back, there's no time travel, but you can use your money to give yourself more time for your lifestyle.
