If there’s one thing that separates podiatrists who grow from those who stay stuck, it’s mindset. Not clinical skills. Not location. Not even the number of competitors in your town. It’s whether you operate from scarcity or abundance.
“Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.”
– Wayne Dyer
Scarcity tells you that every new clinic is a threat. Every colleague is a competitor. Every patient who doesn’t book is somehow “lost forever.” It’s a mindset built on fear, and fear shrinks your world. You tighten up, you protect what you have, and you make decisions from a place of limitation instead of opportunity.
Motivator & Innovators
Abundance, on the other hand, expands everything. It allows you to see competitors as motivators. It pushes you to innovate. It reminds you that you are not meant to treat every patient, only the ones who fit your ideal model of care.
When you truly adopt an abundance mindset, your business becomes lighter, clearer, and more enjoyable to operate.
You stop obsessing over what others are doing and instead focus on becoming the best version of yourself.
Feeling Stuck?
If your practice feels stuck, consider whether scarcity thinking is holding you back. Are you worrying about things you can’t control?
Are you comparing yourself to every clinic within a 10km radius? Or are you looking inward, improving your systems, sharpening your marketing, and attracting the right people?
If this topic of scarcity and abundance resonated with you, I know you’ll love my conversation with Dr Peter Wishnie on Episode 394 on the Podiatry Legends Podcast. Available for free on all podcast platforms, or you can watch my interview with Peter Wishnie on YouTube.
