I Don’t Like Selling

Mar 3, 2022

You’ll often hear a podiatrist say they do not like selling, but is this true, or is it just an excuse for not communicating correctly with their patients?

When you think about it, as podiatrists, all we’re doing is finding solutions to patients’ problems and offering pain relief. So when a podiatrist says I don’t like to sell, my first thoughts are, do you not want to help your patients?

I’m sure they would say that’s different, but it’s not.

A patient has pain, and as a skilled podiatrist, you have multiple treatment options and solutions. You need to select what is best for the patient, present it to them professionally, and then let them decide.

So, please get the word sales out of your vocabulary and replace it with ‘problem-solver’, and yes, sometimes orthotics are required to solve the problem.
